Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

Yea I know I am 3 months early, but those 3 months will fly by! My son is well above the age of Trick or Treating, but I sure to remember Halloween during my college years...OK let's put that thought out of our mind and get back to crafting.

I am making several Halloween passport cards this year. You know I love making these passport cards, and some of the Halloween images I am working with go great on these cards. So I thought I would share a couple of the cards I have made.

The poison skull is from VectoriaDesigns and I have use it on some of my other Halloween cards I have shared. The set is called Halloween Poison Tags. It was a fantastic choice for the front of my passport cards!

These tags are perfect for Halloween, They can be used on gift bags as well as cards.

This next card was made using a fun Halloween set also from VectoriaDesigns called Halloween Kit Junk Journal and it had several pieces to it, great for collage cards and PERFECT for my Passport cards!

You can get to both of these sets by clicking on the name of each set. So let me show you what I did.

Here is the inside of my card. As you can see, this is not only a card, but a calendar as well. Something that can sit on your desk all month to enjoy!

This set has so many fun images, it worked great for my passport card.

I also decorated the back of my card and added a fun "Beware" sentiment!

Well, I hope that you liked my cards. They were a lot of fun to make and I just love all the images!

CHF - The Beauty of Nature

It is time for another challenge over at Cornish Heritage Farms.

Steph's challenge for you today is "The Beauty of Nature."

The sentiment I used this month for my card is from the Friend expressions set and was a perfect sentiment for this image.

I used my distressing inks to create the  background. Very easy and very FAST!

Want to play along???

If you would like to play along with us of course we would love to have you!

To play create a card using CHF images. You can use either CHF digital or rubber stamps to create a card or project.... anything you like as long as the stamps are Cornish Heritage Farms. (Yes, they can be older stamps).

Distress without the Stress!

Did you know I LOVE Vintage? If you follow my work, then you know that is a silly question, being that most of my designs have a vintage flare to them.

Well, I am here today to share with you a vintage inspired greeting card using two of the new releases this month over at So Suzy Stamps! This image is called Vintage Stockings and would be great for all those Vintage inspired Christmas cards.

Now some of you may be intimidated by vintage, or don't know where to start. Well, I am here to share with you some of the things I do to create some of my vintage projects.

Most every image can be worked into a vintage card, of course there are several that may work better than others.  I find that the best vintage cards (for me) are the ones where there is minimal coloring and just a perfect stamped image, like the one I am using today.

All the stamps in the Steampunk section over at So Suzy Stamps are great for Vintage inspired theme cards as well.

Your design always starts with your paper. I like to use Kraft paper and designer paper that has lots of warm earth tones in them. There are a lot of papers out there that are created to look old and distressed, Most of the Tim Holtz brands are like this. One of my favorite paper stacks is called "The Rustic Stack" by DCWV. It is one I use often.

There are a few techniques that I use to to give my projects an aged look.

1.   Distressing Inks

These are a great way to age your paper, but they can get a bit pricey.  If you are starting out I recommend Walnut Stain, Vintage Paper and Tea Dye. These are the three I used on the edge of the stamped image. Remember that these inks are SLOW drying inks, so you may need a drying tool if you don't like to wait.

2.  Paper Distressing

There are a few ways you can distress your paper. One way is to tear your edges or use a paper distressing tool. I used a distressing tool on all four edges and then curled up the top right corner. If you do tear, make sure you tear away from your image and not towards it.

3.  Crumpling your paper

Now this may sound a little strange, but it is a good way to get some creases that your distressing inks will love. For the best results, you should try to get an even effect across the paper. You will find that the distressing ink transfers primarily to the raised, crumpled elements of the paper to highlight these features.

5. Paper Spritzing

The fireworks brand that is carried at So Suzy Stamps is great for backgrounds. Be careful not to use too much, a couple of squirts will do the trick.

4. Embellishments

There are lots of embellishments that work well with vintage theme'd cards. I use many objects from Idea-ology as I like to use metal. Buttons, Stitching and die cuts are also great additions. I also go to the remnant area at JoAnn's fabric to find pieces of lace to add to my cards.  Torn washi tape works great as well. You can see how I used washi tape and lace in the image above. Bakers twin is another great embellishment. Check out your garden supplies area in your local walmart. I found the twine that I used on my buttons for a lot less than what it would have cost me in the Arts and Crafts area, (and it is the same thing.)

Here is the inside of my card

Well I hope my post today was helpful. I would love to see some of your vintage inspired cards so do share!

Thanks for stopping by.

Baked with Love - Imagine That

Hi everyone! I am back to share some fun tags I made using one of the new releases this month over at Imagine That.

This cute little mouse is Baking Chloe from the Baking Mice collection released this month. She is so cute and ready to do some baking for the holidays. Every holiday I make up baked goodies for my neighbors. Wouldn't it be fun to attach a cute little tag? I thought it would be, so I made these up to use this Christmas the set came with this fun little image along with some designer paper that I also used and fun sentiments.

But what is fun about this set, is that while it sure can be used for those Christmas goodies, it is perfect for goodies all year round. I love this little critter so much, I decided to make a couple of cards as well.

Now one of them I did turn into a Christmas Card and I used this fun sentiment that I recently got got over at So Suzy Stamps called Sweet Christmas.

I also used a cute little spoon image from So Suzy Stamps called Cookie Spoon which is so cute with my inside sentiment.

Here is the second sentiment I used. I wanted to show the versatility of this set which can be used for birthdays or any baking occasion. This is also from So Suzy Stamps called Beautiful Cupcake, So what do you think of the release so far? I am just loving these little critters. Hope you are too!

If you are not participating in the progressive challenge, there still is time. Be sure to pop over to Imagine that and pick up the digi of the month set called "Treat Stand."

    Christmas Tag in July

Hi everyone and Happy Friday! I am here to share a tag I made using some inspiration from Tim's 12 months of tags challenge going on this month.  If you recall, earlier this month I made an Independence Day Tag. You can see it HERE.

Well, I decided that this design would look great on a Christmas Tag...and since we are celebrating Christmas in July, it seemed appropriate.

I used various Tim Holtz papers along with some grunge board for my letters and numbers.

I also used these fun printables from VectoriaDesigns called Vintage Christmas Tickets.
They were perfect for this vintage style tag. I used the Christmas Tree and Santa Bingo Tickets, but there are several more that come on this printable sheet. They are great embellishments for any Christmas project.
    Vintage Christmas Tickets

I am sure this tag will end up on a card before Christmas... or maybe it won't. You will just have to wait and see.
